Luxemburg

Family, Quiet Streets, and Catching My Breath

I arrive in Luxembourg by Flixbus after Amsterdam, and even the arrival feels different. The pace slows. The city feels smaller. I am here for one reason: family. My cousin Natalia lives here, and Aiden and I are staying with her for two nights.

When we get into the city, Natalia is still at work, so we walk across town with our backpacks and try to find her place like two kids pretending we know what we are doing. We are tired. We have not had a real day to rest. We drop our stuff and finally breathe.

When Natalia comes home, she takes us out to a local bar. We catch up and talk for a long time. It is the kind of night that is simple but meaningful, because family in a foreign country feels like an anchor.

Luxembourg itself is quiet. We walk around where the royal palace is. There is not much going on. Natalia gives us a little tour, showing us what she knows, what she likes, what her life looks like here. It is not the most dramatic stop of the trip, but that is the point. It is a reset. It is a reminder that the trip is not just cities. It is people.

Then we pack up again and keep moving.
