About Sebastian

Sebastian Latorre is a wildlife and travel photographer whose work spans more than a decade and forty five countries, capturing the beauty, complexity and quiet stories of our planet. His journey began at age thirteen when he received his first DSLR from his uncle while visiting family in Colombia. What started as a young fascination with searching for the perfect image quickly grew into a lifelong pursuit of documenting wild places and the people who inhabit them. A defining moment came in 2022 during a study abroad program in Tanzania. Days spent on the savannah shaped his eye, his patience and his philosophy as a photographer. It was there that he first experienced the raw, unfiltered presence of wildlife and began learning new photographic forms including macro work and camera trapping. When he later captured his first bobcat on a winter camera trap back home, the moment filled him with excitement and clarity. He knew he was following the path he was meant to pursue.

Sebastian’s work is guided by a desire to show how extraordinary the world truly is and to inspire adventure and awareness of wildlife and global cultures. Through his images he hopes people feel a sense of awe, curiosity and respect for the natural world. His cultural and portrait work is often photographed with a panoramic Widelux film camera which creates a cinematic still frame that invites viewers to step directly into the scene. His style has been shaped by his time in Africa where he developed his love for wildlife photography and by the cultural richness of Asia where he learned to observe people and traditions with sensitivity and depth. His global experiences are influenced by his Colombian upbringing and by the encouragement he received from his family to explore the world from a young age. Those early experiences shaped his independence, his artistic voice and his understanding of how travel opens the mind.

Sebastian is also a former Division One decathlete and school record holder in the pole vault at Wofford College. Years of training gave him the resilience, discipline and patience that now define his approach to photography. He is the co-owner of the NewGround Music Festival in Knoxville where he helped build a creative community through storytelling, collaboration and large scale event production.

Today his work is dedicated to inspiring exploration, contributing to conservation awareness and sharing the wild, quiet moments that remind us of our connection to the planet. His long term vision includes publishing books, competing in international photography competitions, building a global audience and guiding younger generations toward meaningful adventure and a deeper respect for nature.
