      <image:title>Destinations - Malaysia - That first night, I meet Sam from Scotland. We become friends instantly. Over dinner, we make plans for the days ahead. The next morning, we head to the Batu Caves. Giant statues, rainbow staircases, monkeys darting between tourists. We climb step after step into the cave, surrounded by humidity and echoes bouncing off stone walls. That night, back at the hostel, a free dinner turns into one of those evenings where strangers become friends effortlessly. I meet Sophie and Ella from Australia, and later we all walk toward the Petronas Twin Towers to watch the light show. We end the night hopping between bars and rooftop terraces, talking under the glow of the towers. A long conversation high above the city turns into a friendship that carries forward through the rest of the trip.</image:title>

      <image:title>Destinations - EGYPT - I stayed at Dahab Hostel in downtown Cairo. After dropping my bag, I passed out on the couch, exhausted from the flight. When I woke up later that morning, the city was fully alive. Cars moved through intersections without hesitation, people crossing streets confidently without looking. I tried to cross once and hesitated. An Egyptian guy laughed and said, “Brother, you walk like an Egyptian.” He stepped into traffic and waved me through. Cairo teaches you fast.</image:title>
      <image:caption>The night markets were endless. I walked forty five minutes in one direction and still hadn’t reached the end. Streets packed shoulder to shoulder, vendors selling clothes, toys, food, souvenirs. Everyone trying to sell something, everyone moving, everyone talking. You learn quickly to say “la shukran” and keep walking. Some nights I wandered aimlessly through it all, phone in my pocket, playing Pokémon Go, eating kebabs, letting the chaos wash over me.</image:caption>

      <image:title>Destinations - EGYPT - I took a day trip to Alexandria next. The city felt coastal and strange, like it was folding into the sea. Parts of it reminded me of the movie Inception, buildings leaning toward the water, a limbo-like atmosphere. Near the bridge and lagoon, people tried to sell us photos with their cameras. A kid, no older than ten, followed us around smoking cigarettes. It was jarring and oddly memorable. Alexandria felt lived in, not curated.</image:title>

      <image:title>Destinations - EGYPT</image:title>
      <image:caption>Luxor hit differently. The scale of everything was overwhelming. Temples that felt permanent. Columns towering overhead. The Valley of the Kings was the most impressive site I saw in Egypt. Descending into the tombs, the hieroglyphics were still vibrant, painted in blues and reds thousands of years ago. Entire walls covered in stories, untouched by time. Luxor didn’t feel polished. It felt heavy with history.</image:caption>

      <image:title>Destinations - EGYPT - A monumental statue standing inside the Grand Egyptian Museum, where ancient Egypt meets striking modern architecture in the heart of Cairo.</image:title>
      <image:caption>Back in Cairo, I visited the Grand Egyptian Museum, newly opened and massive. Wide halls, natural light, artifacts displayed with space and intention. Seeing the objects from Tutankhamun’s tomb in person was surreal. Items made for someone who lived thousands of years ago, preserved well enough to feel personal. The museum itself felt like Egypt claiming its history on its own scale.</image:caption>

      <image:title>Destinations - Jordan</image:title>
      <image:caption>As we continued walking, a Turkish man called out to us and joined the conversation. Just like that, our small group grew. By the time we reached the Citadel, we were laughing, sharing stories, and taking photos while sitting on ancient ruins beneath a massive Jordanian flag waving against the sky. While we were up there, Casanova spotted a woman exploring on her own and asked if she was traveling solo. That was how we met Renee. She immediately clicked with our group, and before long we were all wandering the city together.</image:caption>

      <image:title>Destinations - Jordan - From the Citadel, Casanova led us toward Rainbow Street, walking past colorful streets filled with energy and everyday life. Books were laid out on old cars, alleyways glowed green with plants and outdoor seating, and lanterns hung overhead as the evening settled in. That night, we found a kebab spot that boldly claimed to serve the best kebabs in the world. The place was called Chwarma 3ASAJ, and it absolutely lived up to the hype. The shawarma was stuffed with cheese and wrapped more like a burrito than a traditional kebab, hot, messy, and unreal. We sat outside on plastic chairs late into the night, the air still warm even after the sun had gone down. That became our routine in Amman. Long days of walking followed by late night kebabs on the street that somehow tasted better every time.</image:title>

      <image:title>Destinations - Jordan - After returning to Amman, we made our way south toward Petra. I spent the first day resting, staying in my room and watching the entire second season of Stranger Things. It was the reset I didn’t know I needed before the early morning ahead. We woke up before sunrise to be among the first people inside Petra. Walking through the canyon in the dark and watching the Treasury appear as the light slowly crept in was one of those moments that feels completely still in your memory. As the sun rose, the red sandstone walls revealed swirling patterns that looked almost painted. Petra is massive. From the visitor center to the monastery and beyond, the walk stretches close to seven miles if you explore fully. By the time we reached the monastery, we had already walked for hours, but arriving early meant we avoided the heat and crowds. Past the monastery, we climbed even higher to a viewpoint where we sat quietly with coffee, watching the Jordanian flag wave above the ancient city.</image:title>

      <image:title>Destinations - Jordan - On the way down, the city was packed with people, camels posing for photos, and the noise of tourism fully awake. The long walk back felt endless, but worth every step. That night, we ran into friends again, smoked hookah, and watched Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, filmed right there in Jordan. It felt like the perfect end to a long day.</image:title>

      <image:title>Destinations - BOLIVIA</image:title>
      <image:caption>After Isla del Sol we traveled to La Paz. The city felt intense and alive, built into steep terrain where everything moves at an angle. Markets spilled into streets, people moved with urgency, and the altitude made every breath feel intentional. Some scenes were impossible to forget, including dried baby llamas hanging from strings in the markets, surreal and unsettling reminders that Bolivia does not soften itself for visitors.</image:caption>

      <image:title>Destinations - BOLIVIA - While in La Paz, my uncle and I rode El Camino de la Muerte, the Road of Death. It is a full day of mountain biking along narrow roads carved into cliffs with massive drop offs. Here is the truth. I told my uncle I was great at riding bikes. That was a lie. I had not ridden seriously in a long time. But I wanted the experience so badly that confidence came first and skill had to follow. And somehow it worked. Fear never arrived. Focus did. Adrenaline did. The ride was intense and unforgettable, and it reinforced something important. Sometimes the adventure works because you say yes before doubt has time to speak.</image:title>
    </image:image>

      <image:title>Destinations - BOLIVIA - From La Paz we flew to Santa Cruz de la Sierra to meet more family, including my cousins Santiago and Sebastian. Santa Cruz felt warmer and flatter, with a different rhythm entirely. One of the most unexpected highlights was visiting my uncle’s potato chip factory and seeing how potato chips were made. It was such a random detail in a trip filled with mountains and ancient landscapes, which is exactly why it stood out. Travel is rarely only about famous places.</image:title>
    </image:image>

      <image:loc>https://images.squarespace-cdn.com/content/v1/693221052e021e4fa4023702/62d1bd2d-1a3d-4dbf-9e23-f534bf6e9c2d/DSC_0032+%282%29.jpg</image:loc>
      <image:title>Destinations - BOLIVIA - In the middle of the salt flat rises a cactus covered island, the only mountain interrupting the white expanse. It feels impossible, like a mirage that somehow solidified. Near the edge of the Salar, closer to the Chilean border, we encountered hundreds of flamingos gathered in shallow water. Delicate birds standing against a backdrop of volcanoes and high desert mountains. It felt unreal. We also found thermal pools in the freezing high altitude air. It was too cold to be outside and too cold to get into the water, but we did it anyway. That became a theme of the trip. See a body of water, touch a body of water, even when it makes no sense.</image:title>
    </image:image>

      <image:title>Destinations - BOLIVIA - Bolivia was raw and untamed. Less curated than Peru and more demanding of your attention. It asked you to meet it on its own terms. At fourteen, I did not overthink it. I moved forward, carried my camera, and trusted the experience. I followed my uncle into moments that felt big, strange, and unforgettable. Bolivia taught me that adventure does not always arrive cleanly. Sometimes it arrives as a dusty border crossing, a cliffside bike ride you were not fully prepared for, and an endless salt flat that makes you feel small in the best way.</image:title>

      <image:title>Destinations - Peru - Traveling through central Peru by car shaped the soul of the trip. We rented a vehicle and began exploring the country at our own pace. Huascaran National Park was one of the first places that truly took my breath away. The mountains were massive, jagged, and impossibly dramatic. Snow covered peaks rose above green foothills and alpine lakes reflected the sky.</image:title>
      <image:caption>At some point, my family told me something that changed everything. They said Sebastian if you think we should stop for a photo then tell us to stop. From that moment on, I became the group photographer. I sat in the middle seat, scanning the horizon, asking the driver Mauricio to pull over whenever the light or landscape felt right. We would jump out of the car and stand quietly in front of scenes that felt unreal.</image:caption>

      <image:title>Destinations - Peru - Instead of an easy train and bus, we found ourselves packed into a rough van driving along narrow roads carved into sheer cliffs. The five hour drive from Cusco to the hydroelectric plant was intense. From there, we walked ten kilometers along a train track to reach Aguas Calientes. By the time we arrived, we were exhausted.</image:title>
      <image:caption>The town felt like a Peruvian Gatlinburg. Busy, chaotic, and packed with travelers. We rested briefly before waking up early the next morning to hike straight up the mountain in darkness. Hundreds of people moved in a slow line, drenched in sweat, climbing steep steps for over an hour until we finally reached Machu Picchu. The altitude was manageable, but the humidity, crowds, and exhaustion made it difficult to fully appreciate the site at first. Eventually, the reality of where we were set in. Even through the chaos, I was grateful to be there. One of my favorite memories from the Sacred Valley was not Machu Picchu itself, but a quiet moment near an old church decorated in gold. Photography was not allowed inside, but outside the sun was setting over a potato farm. Locals had laid potatoes out on the grass to dry, glowing warm in the evening light. It was peaceful and deeply beautiful.</image:caption>

      <image:title>Destinations - Peru - Arequipa was where my love for adventure truly ignited. After hearing stories from other travelers about a nearby volcano called Mount Misti, my uncle and I decided to attempt the climb. That experience deserves its own story and I will tell it one day. Although I did not summit, the attempt itself changed me. It was physically demanding, mentally challenging, and deeply rewarding. Hiking with a guide and a group of French climbers after my uncle turned back forced me to step into independence in a way I had never experienced before. I grew in that moment and I still feel connected to it.</image:title>

      <image:title>Destinations - Peru - We reunited with the rest of the family at Colca Canyon. Seeing Andean condors soaring above the canyon was unforgettable. These massive birds moved effortlessly through the air, riding thermals above one of the deepest canyons in the world. My dad had always talked about condors and how grand they were. Seeing them in person felt meaningful. The canyon stretched endlessly and the silence of the space made the moment even more powerful.</image:title>

      <image:caption>We based ourselves in Vienna for five days to visit Sergio who lives there. Vienna immediately stood out to me. The city looks clean and grand in a way I had not expected. The buildings are historic but somehow feel new and perfectly kept. Walking through Vienna at night felt calm and beautiful. <image:caption>We spent one rainy day in Linz where Sergio and I walked through the Christmas market and along the river. It was cold and wet but the city still had a charm to it. After that we traveled to Salzburg which was the most beautiful place we saw during the trip. The city sits beneath the Alps and the mountains rise softly in the distance. We visited several Sound of Music filming locations and the monastery was my favorite. I love that movie and all I could think of was “the hills are alive” as we walked through the same places where those scenes were filmed.</image:caption>

      <image:title>Destinations - Bahamas - One of my favorite memories from the week was buying fresh fish from a local fisherman. Tyler and I walked down to the docks and asked if he had anything to sell and he handed us a bag of fish that became our meals for the rest of the trip. We cooked it every day and it always tasted perfect after swimming and snorkeling.</image:title>
      <image:caption>I promise it tasted better than this looks…</image:caption>

      <image:title>Destinations - Bahamas</image:title>
      <image:caption>The water next to our house was so shallow that you could walk out a hundred yards and the water would still be warm. It felt like standing in a giant natural pool. Most of our days were spent swimming, snorkeling and exploring the beaches. The wildlife was calm and peaceful. We saw conch and starfish everywhere and one huge barracuda that moved so fast it startled all of us.</image:caption>

      <image:title>Destinations - Bahamas - There were tough moments too. Presley fell asleep tanning on the beach and her entire back turned bright purple from the sun. She could not move for more than a day. That was the moment we all learned just how strong the sun is in the Bahamas.</image:title>
      <image:caption>My best photography moment came during one of the quiet sunsets. The sky turned soft pink and orange and the water reflected all of it. Everything on the island felt still for a moment.</image:caption>

      <image:title>Destinations - Guatemala - We landed in Antigua under a light rain, which made the cobblestone streets and crumbling colonial arches feel even more cinematic. The city is alive with energy, buzzing markets, perfumed bakeries, and families walking beneath volcano silhouettes. Antigua was the first place that made me realize how special Guatemala is.</image:title>
      <image:caption>The street food surprised us in the best way. Sebastian tried a white corn soup in the old town, something so simple yet so deeply comforting, especially in the cool evening air. We wandered through the historic center, dipping into small bars and hearing live music spill out onto the streets. It instantly felt like a place we could stay for weeks.</image:caption>

      <image:title>Destinations - Guatemala - Fuego overlook is covered by clouds in the extreme cold.</image:title>
      <image:caption>The extra push was brutal. We were cold, tired and walking through clouds so thick we couldn’t see the eruptions. At one point, Sebastian and I huddled together on the mountain for warmth, eating Oreos in silence and watching the sky flicker red through the mist. It was oddly perfect.</image:caption>

      <image:title>Destinations - Australia - Seeing Uluru for the first time filled me with awe. The rock glowed with deep orange and red as the sun set and the entire landscape felt charged with energy. Walking around the base of Uluru over the next two days was one of the most meaningful outdoor experiences I have ever had. At the sunset viewing area we met a spiritual woman and spent hours talking under a sky full of stars. The stars were so bright they looked like crystals scattered across the night. It was quiet peaceful and unforgettable.</image:title>
      <image:caption>The entire desert felt alive. The morning we left Uluru we saw the same woman standing by the roadside holding a beautiful bird she found after it had been struck by a car. She said it was too beautiful to leave behind. It was one more reminder of how unique and personal travel moments can be.</image:caption>

      <image:caption>We stocked up like two teenagers who had never done a road trip before. Peanut butter, Nutella, bread. A KFC stop where we bought only thighs. A couple liters of water — which, in hindsight, was wildly irresponsible for a drive across the Outback.</image:caption>

      <image:title>Stories from the road - THE LONG ROAD to THE RED HEART</image:title>
      <image:caption>Then there were the road trains — massive trucks so long they looked like metal centipedes. On our way back east, we saw a herd of sheep crossing the highway. A baby sheep and its mother hesitated at the back. A road train came barreling through, and before we could even process it, the sheep was gone. Just gone. Dylan and I screamed like we were in a movie.</image:caption>

      <image:title>Stories from the road - Chasing Fire: A Volcano Adventure in Guatemala - By the time we reached the viewpoint on Fuego, we were shaking from the wind and the cold. The clouds stole the lava show we had imagined, but we didn’t even care; Sebastian and I sat down, pulled out our emergency chocolates, and savored them like they were a five–course meal. That moment felt like a victory. Small, silly, perfect.</image:title>
